Write Data to Lists with GARY

Gary can add new items to your CORAS lists and update existing records directly from a chat conversation.

Before You Start

  • You need edit access to any list you ask Gary to write to. Gary checks permissions before writing.

  • Gary writes to existing lists only — it cannot create new lists.

  • Each write follows the same field-level validation as manual entry.

Add a New Item to a List

Ask Gary using natural language. For example:

"Add a new item to [list name] with [field name]: [value] and [field name]: [value]."

Gary confirms the action and adds the record. The new item appears in the list immediately — no refresh needed.

Update an Existing Item

"Update [field name] on [item name] in [list name] to [new value]."

Gary finds the record, applies the update, and confirms the change.

What Happens If You Don't Have Edit Access

Gary tells you it can't complete the action — it does not write silently or fail without explanation.

Tips

  • Use exact list and field names as they appear in CORAS.

  • Gary handles one record at a time. For bulk changes, use the standard list import tools.

  • If a field requires a specific format, Gary follows that validation.
