Dynamic Sources
Why This Matters
CORAS Light users who work from frequently updated files — weekly reports, exported data pulls, recurring CSV feeds — previously had to wait for ingestion or share files through other means. Dynamic Sources lets you upload data directly into CORAS Light and immediately use it as context for GARY conversations.
What Is a Dynamic Source?
A dynamic source is a data file you upload directly in CORAS Light that GARY can query in a conversation. Unlike static file uploads (which are scoped to a single session), dynamic sources are stored and can be updated, versioned, and reused across conversations.
Dynamic sources appear on your Sources page — a dedicated management area in CORAS Light where you can see all active sources, their status, and ingestion history.
Create a Dynamic Source
In CORAS Light, navigate to Sources in the left menu.
Click + New Source.
Upload your file. Supported formats: CSV, Excel (.xlsx).
Name the source and configure any field mappings if prompted.
Click Save.
CORAS Light processes the file and makes it available as a source for GARY conversations.
Large CSV files: If a CSV file exceeds the size limit for a direct upload, CORAS Light automatically redirects you to create a dynamic source instead of uploading it as a session file. Follow the same steps above.
Update an Existing Dynamic Source
When your underlying data changes (for example, a weekly report refreshes), update the source rather than creating a new one:
Go to Sources.
Locate the source you want to update.
Click Update or the upload icon next to the source.
Upload the new file version.
Save.
Previous ingestion logs are retained. The source updates immediately.
Preview a Dynamic Source
Before using a source in a conversation, you can preview its contents to confirm it loaded correctly:
Go to Sources.
Click on any source to open its detail view.
Review the field names, row count, and sample data in the preview panel.
If the preview looks incorrect, update the source with a corrected file.
Use a Dynamic Source in a Conversation
Start a New Data Chat from the CORAS Light home screen, or open an existing conversation.
In the source selector, choose from your available dynamic sources.
Ask GARY questions about the data.
GARY queries the source directly and cites it in its responses.
View the Ingestion Log (Source Jobs)
The Source Jobs log tracks every ingestion event for your dynamic sources — when a file was uploaded, processed, or failed.
Go to Sources.
Click Source Jobs (or the ingestion log tab).
Review the status of each ingestion: Completed, Processing, or Failed.
If a source fails to ingest, the log shows the error reason. Correct the file and re-upload.
FAQ
Can I share a dynamic source with other users? Dynamic source visibility depends on your CORAS Light admin configuration. Check with your admin if you need to make a source available to your team.
What's the difference between a dynamic source and uploading a file in chat? Files uploaded directly in chat are session-scoped — they disappear when the conversation ends. Dynamic sources persist, can be updated, and are available across multiple conversations.
What file types are supported? CSV and Excel (.xlsx). Large CSV files are automatically handled as dynamic sources if they exceed the session upload size limit.
